Brigadier General James L. Pruitt (Ret.), 68, of Holts Summit, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, MO. He was born April 3, 1943, in Lebanon, MO, a son of the late Clifford C. and Imo F. (Carroll) Pruitt. He was a 1961 graduate of Lebanon High School in Lebanon, MO, and went on to graduate in 1986, from Columbia College in Columbia, MO. On July 27, 1989, he was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” A. Baker, who survives at their home.

James was a veteran of the United States Army, and served all over the United States. He was with the Missouri Army National Guard from 1962 until his retirement in 2002. After retiring from the Missouri Army National Guard, he was a farmer in the Holts Summit area. He was a member of the Missouri Army National Guard Association. James enjoyed fishing, target shooting, and spending time with his family.

Along with his wife Pat, James is also survived by three sons: James M. Pruitt (wife Debbie) of St. Elizabeth, MO; Michael B. Pruitt (wife Laura) of Grosse Pointe Park, MI; Gregory A. Pruitt (Sandy) of Jefferson City, MO; two step-daughters: Jennifer A. Markway (husband Jeff) of Holts Summit, MO; Jessica L. Geldner (husband Mike) of Fulton, MO; three brothers: Clifford C. Pruitt, Jr. of Graham, TX; Richard D. Pruitt of Chelsea, OK; Bobby G. Pruitt of Lebanon, MO; one sister: Barbara J. Massey of New Melle, MO; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clifford & Imo Pruitt; and one sister: Sharon K. Oursborne.

Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2012, at the Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Holts Summit. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, with Chaplain Gary Gilmore of the Missouri National Guard officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in the Summit Memorial Park Cemetery in Holts Summit. SENECA, MO —

Janice Sue Lankford, age 60, of Seneca, Mo., passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, after a short illness.

Born Aug. 23, 1951, in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Ray Irving Smith and Bertha Irene Wells Smith. A homemaker and mother, she later drove school buses for Carl Junction. She also drove for O.A.T.S., Seneca School District and most recently was a cook for Seneca schools.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley Lankford, of the home; a son, Terry Howerton, of Chicago, Ill.; two granddaughters, Victoria (Gabbie) and Christian; a stepson, Tyler E. Lankford, of Seneca; a sister, Marilyn Smith, of Carterville; a brother, Jack Smith and wife, Pam, of Carthage; a sister, Marilyn Sparlin, of Joplin; and several nieces and nephews. Jan was preceded in death by a daughter, Hilliary Howerton; and a half-sister, Margie Rupinsky.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Journey Church, located at 4th and McKinley Avenue in Joplin. Pastor Matt Derfelt and Rev. Bob Simon will officiate. Interment will follow in Swars Prairie Methodist Cemetery, South of Seneca. Pallbearers will be Gerry Smith, Adam Sparlin, Don Sparlin, Nick Lankford and Greg Lankford. Joey Lankford will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.

William Ray McDonald

William Ray “Bill” McDonald passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011, from complications during lung transplant surgery at St. Paul’s Hospital/Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Born December 29, 1947, in Mexico, Missouri he was preceded in death by his father, Samuel P. McDonald, and mother, Gladys Ross McDonald, and brother, Perry R. McDonald. He is survived by daughter Jessianna McDonald Dodge, son-in-law Charles Dodge and grandson Charles William Dodge of Leavenworth, Kansas, and son Steven Richard McDonald of Joplin, Missouri. A sister, Maxine McDonald Cavanaugh, of Honolulu, and brother and sister-in-law, Chester L. and Anke McDonald, of Tucson, Arizona, along with cousins and many nieces and nephews. Roberta L. “Robbie” Davis, his partner of the last nine years also survives. At the time of death Bill and Robbie resided in DeSoto, Texas.

Bill attended elementary, middle and high school in Mexico, Missouri, then graduated from Gar-Field High School, Woodbridge, Virginia in 1966. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 1966 serving most of his enlistment at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Bill earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 1976 from Southern Missouri College in Joplin. He joined the Missouri National Guard and was selected for the Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) program. Temporary assignments while in the AGR included duty in Alaska, Panama, Honduras and Costa Rica. He retired in 1999 at the rank of Sergeant-First Class (E-7).

An enthusiastic member of the American Volkssport Association (AVA), Bill joined AVA walking clubs in Joplin, Las Vegas, Raleigh, and Dallas-Fort Worth. He took great pleasure in exploring museums, historic buildings and battlefields, especially from the Civil War. A life-long fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Bill loved watching college and professional baseball.

Bill loved life and was always ready to see what was around the next bend in the road. His family and friends will miss his good humor and zest for life.

In accordance with Bill’s wishes, his remains were cremated and will be scattered in some of the places he loved. No funeral or memorial service will be held.

James “Jimmy” Cox passed away peacefully from complications of Parkinson’s disease on Nov. 3, 2011.

He was born Jan. 26, 1937, to Frank and Ruby Cox.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Zelma McClanahan Cox and younger brother, Larry B. Cox.

He is survived by five children; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nephews, nieces and cousins of all ages.

James joined the Army at age 16 in 1953, serving three years active duty in the Army National Guard, then served 36 years with the 203rd Eng. Co. in Joplin until 1992. He worked for Associate Grocers from 1968 to 1998, until his much deserved retirement. His work ethic was second to none.

Visitation will be Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. at the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, Mo., followed by services at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest with full military honors on Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery

Ellen Jeanette Doyle

JOPLIN, MO — Ellen Jeanette Doyle, age 75, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on May 22, 2011, at her home, from injuries sustained in the catastrophic tornado. Ellen was born on Nov. 29, 1935, in Carthage, Mo., the daughter of the late Raymond C. Kennell and the late Mary Virginia Pace. She has been a resident of Joplin area her entire life. She was a homemaker. She was a member of College Heights Christian Church. Ellen loved spending time with her family, going out to eat, and shopping. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. She married Keith Doyle on Feb. 19, 1954, at Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin. He preceded her in death September of 2003. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Brookshire and special friend, Mario Morales and Terri Branham and her husband, Randy; five grandchildren, Jason Brookshire and his wife, Stephanie, Lesa Branham, Stephanie Sargent and husband, Jeremy and Jamie Fort and husband, Matt; five great-grandchildren, Tamerik Branham, Jasmine Sargent, Lilly Sargent, Kaden Fort and Jarett Fort; three brothers Jerry Kennell, Grandview, Mo., Bud Kennell and wife, Dolly, Harbor City, Calif., and Johnnie Kennell, Kansas City, Mo.; and two sisters, Carol Davidson and husband, Galen, Pittsburg, Kan., and Linda Salmans and husband, Randy, Topeka, Kan. She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Kelly Jo Brookshire; son-in-law, John Brookshire; and a sister, Nola Randall. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary with burial to follow in Fullerton Cemetery, Carthage, Mo. Minister Rick Bushnell will officiate. Mr. Jimmie Lee Leuellen, 78, of Anderson, Missouri departed this life on Saturday morning, April 9, 2011 at his home after a recent battle with cancer.

Jimmie was born on November 11, 1932 in rural Anderson, Missouri born to the late Ernest and Nell (Hatten) Leuellen. He was a lifelong area resident and a 1951 graduate of Anderson High School. On February 17, 1952 in Anderson he was united in marriage to Nina Marie Lane and to this union three daughters and one son were born. Besides being a farmer, he and Nina also owned and operated Leuellen Meat Processing for twenty-six years. He served in the Army National Guard from 1952 until retiring in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of forty-seven years, Nina Marie Leuellen on January 23, 2000; a daughter, Brenda Leuellen; and a brother, Joe Leuellen.

Jimmie is survived by one son, David Leuellen and wife, Marti, of Diamond, Missouri; two daughters, Sheri Cleaver and husband, Rick, of Anderson, Missouri and Debbie McAlister and husband, Larry, of Diamond, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Shawn McAlister and wife, Jamie, Jimmie McAlister and wife, Alisha, Brenda Tuttle and husband, Kevin, Chad Leuellen and wife, Samantha, Ricky Cleaver and wife, Catrina, Levi Cleaver and wife, Patricia and Rebecca Cleaver; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Eva Lycan of Joplin, Missouri; a brother, John Leuellen of Claremore, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Leuellen are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Bro. Malcolm Mosby officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Anderson Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Shawn McAlister, Jimmie McAlister, Chad Leuellen, Levi Cleaver, Tyler Cleaver and Jordan McAlister. Koby McAlister will be serving as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Charles A. "Chuck" Hunt   (Former S-1 Clerk for 203rd)

JOPLIN, MO — Charles Arthur "Chuck" Hunt, age 55, of Joplin, passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at the home of his mother after a sudden illness.

Born Feb. 11, 1955, in Joplin, he was a graduate of Joplin Senior High School. He received his degree in nursing from M.S.S.U. He had served nearly 20 years in the National Guard and was employed 17 years at St. John's Regional Medical Center. He became a registered nurse in 2004.

Survivors include his mother, Eva Mae Newdigger Hunt, of Joplin; his brother, Stephen Michael Hunt and wife, Carol, of Springfield, Mo.; two nieces, Stephanie Brown and husband, Steve, of Battlefield, Mo., and Ashly Stelling and husband, Cameron, of Springfield; two great-nieces, Cara and Ruthie; and one great-nephew, Hudson. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Melvin W. Hunt; and a sister, Marcia Hunt.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Parker Chapel with Chaplain Brian Giebler officiating. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 1 p.m. Thursday until service time.

SGT. ROBERT WAYNE CROW, JR. -->Sgt. Robert Wayne Crow, Jr., 42, of Kansas City North, lost his life on July 10, 2010, while serving his country in Afghanistan. Wayne was born April 28, 1968 in Victorville, California and lived there until moving to the Kansas City area in 2004. He was a member of the Missouri National Guard since 2005 and was serving his second tour of duty in the U.S. Army National Guard in the 203rd Engineer Battalion at the time of his death. Wayne worked for Missouri Gas Energy and previously was employed with Heartland Midwest. Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Cyr, and a brother, Robert Crow. Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Beverly A. Crow; children, Robert Wayne Crow, III, David Crow, Larry Kern, James Kern, Craig Kern and Meredith Kern; his father, Robert Wayne Crow, Sr.; sister, Brenda Lopez; brother, Norman Crow; twelve grandchildren, Aaliyah, Carl, Kimberly, Ashton, Jayce, Patrick, Trevor, Aubrie, Craig, Joseph, Riley and Hailey, as well as a 13th grandchild due in November. He also leaves Beverly's family, including her parents, Wilber and Maryann Hilke, and Lowell and Linda McGinnis; and many other relatives and friends. GALENA, KANSAS: Gary L. Holt, age 66, 419 E 23rd Terrace, Galena, KS. died at 12:23 pm, Friday, April 23, 2010 at his home following an illness.

Mr. Holt was born April 10, 1944 in Joplin, MO. His parents were Thomas and Arvina Kathleen Holt. He attended Joplin High School.

He joined the U S Army in 1961 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. His military service extended over a 25 year period. He earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, and Airborne Wings.

Gary worked at Eagle Picher for 2 years, then Midwestern Oil for 3 years before gaining employment at Tamko Roofing where he worked for 14 years retiring in 1984.

He participated in law enforcement with the City of Galena and Cherokee County Sheriff Dept, serving in various capacities including patrolman and reserve officer. He was currently serving as a Galena City Councilman. He was a member of the VFW Post 534 Joplin, MO, the Galena Masonic Lodge, and the Baxter Springs Saddle Club. His interests included his grandkids, camping, horses, law enforcement, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Gary was married to Connie Giddens on May 16, 1966 in Galena, KS. She survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Gary D. Holt, (wife, Faith) Galena, KS, Randy D. Holt (wife, Cathy), Ft Leonard Wood, MO, and Justin Ray Holt, Tulsa OK; one daughter, Mary K. Lawson (husband, Kirk) Galena, KS; his mother, Arvina Kathleen Holt, Joplin, MO; and four siblings, David, Judy, Barbara, and Tommy Sue; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Holt; and his mother–in-law, Mary Giddens.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS where military rites will be conducted. Cherokee County Police Officers will serve as honor guard.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the funeral home.

Fullname = Harold Hailey -->On June 4, 1932, Harry and Nellie Hailey were blessed with the birth of their youngest son, Harold Ray. Harold completed his journey to Heaven on Feb. 23, 2010. He was 77. Born to humble beginnings, Harold worked hard to educate himself in many areas. He spent his late teen years traveling the Northwest, working as a chef with his brother, Denver. Returning to his hometown of Joplin, he met the love of his life, Jean Hogan, to who he proposed two days after they met. They were married on June 27, 1953. God blessed them with three children, Vicki Ann (Hailey) Harrison, Debbie Lyn (Hailey) Meadows and Gregory Denton Hailey. Upon returning to Joplin, Harold began working for the Gas Service Company. He worked hard and received many promotions within the company including: Area Air-Conditioning supervisor; superintendent in Baxter Springs, Kan.; superintendent in Parsons, Kan.; superintendent Customer Service, Kansas City, Mo.; and superintendent in Pittsburg, Kan., the position he held until retirement in 1991. He and his wife returned to Joplin in 1994, to be closer to family. Harold believed strongly that it was his duty to serve his country and joined the Missouri National Guard, 203rd Battalion in 1952. He achieved the rank of master sergeant and was honorably discharged upon his retirement in 1978. Harold was deeply committed to his family, always being involved in the interests and activities of his children. He was chief umpire for the Metropolitan Little League for many years. While living in Frontenac, Kan., he enjoyed being active in Kiwanis. Harold loved music and was blessed with a wonderful voice. In addition to writing ditties to delight his grandchildren, he recorded four records and was a Square Dance Caller for over 50 years. As with anything he did, Harold gave his all to his love of square dancing, calling for as many as four clubs at a time. He was inducted into the Missouri Caller/ CUER Hall of Fame in 2006. Always active, he spent many summers with his family boating and water skiing. While in his 60s, he enthusiastically took up snow skiing and earned his scuba diving certificate in his 70s. Harold loved the Lord and received Christ as his savior while still a teenager. He was always quick to give credit to God for the many blessings in his life. Throughout his life he attended Gideon Union Chapel and Southside Baptist Church, Joplin. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Nellie Hailey; brothers, Carl, Denver, Bennie and Junior; two sisters, Hazel Rudolph and Louise Shaver; and his daughter, Vicki Ann Hailey. Harold is survived by his wife, W. Jean Hailey; daughter, Debbie Lyn Meadows and husband, Tim, of Diamond, Mo.; son, Gregory Denton Hailey and wife, Janete Viera, of Maceio, Brazil; three granddaughters, Amanda Studebaker and husband, Paul, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Lydia Cranston and husband, Jason, of Diamond, and Vicki Ann Vieira Hailey, of Maceio; two grandsons, Jacob Meadows and wife, Joy, Joplin, and Aaron Hailey and wife, Ashley, Joplin; three great-granddaughters; three great grandsons; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. The funeral will be conducted March 1 at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Jacob Meadows and Aaron Shipman officiating. PIERCE CITY, MO — Eugene Wrobleski, 81, of Pierce City, Mo., died on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at St. John’s Hospital in Joplin, Mo., following an auto accident near Monett, Mo., Thursday.

Mr. Wrobleski was born Sunday, May 26, 1929, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Edward and Rose Shaskey Wrobleski.

He was the husband of Betty Michael Wrobleski who he married March 3, 1951, in Eureka Springs, Ark. She survives.

He served in the 203rd National Guard Unit until his retirement from the Guard in 1989. He was a Pierce City Councilman for over 25 years and retired from Mount Vernon Rehab Center. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Also surviving are son, Mark Wrobleski, of Pierce City; daughter, Kathy Shelton, of Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, Scott Wrobleski; and brothers, Gearld Wrobleski and Richard Wrobleski.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Father Peter J. Morciniec officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Pulaskifield, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pierce City, with rosary services to be held at 7 p.m. under the direction of Lakin Funeral Home, of Pierce City.

Lensy “LP” Lane

CARTHAGE, MO — Lensy ‘LP’ Lane, 86, Carthage, died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, following a sudden illness. Mr. Lane was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Garfield, Ark., the son of Allen and Alice (Gann) Lane. He graduated from Garfield High School and from NEO in Miami, Okla., with a business degree. L.P. served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a master sergeant; he then served in the U.S. Army Reserves and the National Guard. He had worked for Tap Jac over 50 years as an auditor; was a member of the National Golden Gloves Boxing, the  National Silver Gloves Boxing and Diamond First Baptist Church. In 2010, he was flown to Washington, DC by the U.S. Government and was awarded the Legion of Honor Medal from the Government of French Republic. Lensy married Lorene L. Hale on Oct. 15, 1945, in Garfield, Ark. She preceded him in death on March 6, 1994. He is survived by a daughter, Charlotte R. Wilson, Joplin; a son, Allen Lane, San Angelo, Texas; a sister, Mildred Herd, Miami; six grandsons; five granddaughters; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a son, David L. Lane on Jan. 8, 1994; five brothers; and three sisters. Services will be Monday, July 12, at 1 p.m. at Seneca First Baptist Church, Dr. Jim Wilson will officiate. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage, with full military honors. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Chris Lane, Marshall Johnson, Ronnie Herd and Danny Pettit. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, on Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. and the family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. CARTHAGE, MO — Gordon E. Brightwell, 80, Carthage, Mo., passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a brief illness. He has lived in Carthage most of his life. Gordon was born at Protem, Mo., Taney County, on April 19, 1930, to J.W. "Jim" and Betha (Williams) Brightwell, moving to Carthage in 1935. He married Deloris L. Bowman on Dec. 28, 1950, at the Methodist parsonage in Carthage. Together they made their home in Carthage. Gordon attended Carthage schools and graduated from Carthage High School in 1948. He and Deloris were classmates at Carthage High School. He and his father, along with Deloris and his mother, Betha, operated Brightwell¹s 66 service station on South Garrison Avenue for 21 years and then spent the next 20 years at Ryder Tran-sportation services as a mechanic. Also during this work period he spent 24 years in the Missouri National Guard, 203rd Tank and Engineer Battalion of the Missouri National Guard, 1949 to 1969, and 235th GF Battalion, Kansas City, Mo., General Headquarters, 1969 to 1973, retiring in 1973 as a Major. He also worked part time for five years at Carthage Farm and Home. He was a member of Mount Moriah Methodist Church since 1972. Gordon was active with his children and grandchildren in 4H and FFA, a representative with United Commercial Travelers Insurance for 50 years, a devoted sports grandpa with his grandchildren and a bicycle riding enthusiast with his friend, Glenn Page. Survivors include two children, Karen S. (Tom) Ziler, Carthage, and Rick J. (Barbara) Brightwell, Carthage; four grandchildren, Amber (Donovan) Hensley, Nixa, Mo., Zachary Ziler, Bloomington, Ill., Clinton Brightwell and Anna Brightwell, Carthage; one great-granddaughter, Hailey Hensley, Nixa. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Lindell "Lin" Dwight Jackson, 62, passed away on Saturday, January 22nd at his Joplin home following a second battle with cancer. 

Lindell was born in Monett on December 30, 1948 to Leland and Genevieve Jackson.  He was raised in Carthage, graduating from Carthage High School in 1966.  Lindell served a tour of duty in Vietnam with the U.S. Army in 1969 achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He later joined the Missouri National Guard and served his country for over 17 years.  During his service, Lindell earned the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medals, Certificate of Achievement 2-Star Club for Recruitment, Command Sergeant Major Excellence Award, two Air Medals, and the Bronze Star.

Lindell ran Jackson Construction for many years before joining JVC Builders (Des Moines) as a Superintendent.   In 2006, he joined EMJ Corporation (Dallas) as a General Superintendent and was exceptionally proud of his work on the construction of Kohl’s stores in several states until the time of his illness.

Lindell was married three times.  He married Cynthia Stiles out of high school and later married Beth Cooper.  In 1993, Lin married Donna Lovekamp in Joplin and was happily married for over 17 years.  He adored children, having a daughter by his first marriage, raising a second daughter in his final marriage, and being blessed with three grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews.  He loved spending time with family and friends and especially enjoyed hosting everyone at holiday celebrations.  Lindell loved travel, taking frequent cruises, and was passionate about 1950s hot rods and classic cars.  Lindell was a generous friend, a sentimental family man, and a proud veteran. 

Lindell is survived by his wife Donna, his daughter Heather Robideaux and husband Stephen of Fayetteville, AR, his daughter Amber Grubbs and husband Josh of Carl Junction, as well as three grandchildren, Joshua Jackson (J.J.), Mia, and Hayden.  He is also survived by his father, Leland Jackson of Carthage, and siblings Charlotte Bricker and husband Bob of Carthage, Lura Gordon and husband Jerry of Jasper, Michael Jackson and wife Sharon of Valparaiso, Indiana, Marcia Pliler of Carthage, Connie Thompson and husband Rob of Carthage, Debbie Oplotnik and husband Brian of Joplin, Doug Jackson and wife Teresa of Carthage, Karen Chambell and husband Terry of Carthage, and Kevin Jackson and wife Beckie of Neck City.  Lindell was preceded in death by his mother Genevieve Jackson in 2010, brothers-in-law Allen Pliler in 2008 and William McQuade in 2006, and niece Tara Bricker in 1999.

Lindell will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR.   A visitation service will be held on Friday, January 28th at 7:00 pm at Parker Mortuary in Joplin.  A celebration of life gathering, open to all, will be held on Saturday, January 29th at 1:00 pm at the Joplin National Guard Hall at 2000 W. 32nd St. to remember Lindell.

Phyllis F. Gripka, age 76, of Pierce City, MO died on Friday, February 04, 2011, at St.. John's Hospital in Aurora, MO. Mrs. Gripka was born in Lebanon, MO on Tuesday, February 06, 1934. She was the daughter of Harry S. and Floy (Matlock) Harrell. Mrs. Gripka was married to Anthony "Tony" Gripka on Saturday, December 15, 1951, in Pierce City, MO. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Monett.

Mrs. Gripka was Pierce City's City Clerk for nineteen years, a member of the Pleasant Hour Extension Club, treasurer of Stotts City Reunion Committee, secretary of the Senior Citizen's Center in Pierce City, and a member of the First Baptist Church Choir.

Surviving are her husband, Anthony of the home; four children and there spouses, Donna Knight of Monett, MO, Melissa "Missi" Miller of Monett, MO, Douglas Gripka of Stark City, MO, and Thomas Gripka of Pierce City, MO; one sister, Marcene Fredrick of Springfield, MO; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Monday, February 07, 2011, from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM.

Services will be at the First Baptist Church in Monett, MO on Tuesday, February 08, 2011, beginning at 1:00 PM with Dr. Bill Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Pierce City Cemetery in Pierce City, MO.
